# WrapScribe documentation — setup, features and settings

> Markdown twin of https://wrapscribe.com/docs/ — the canonical page.

Documents WrapScribe 1.9.1.

Three pages. Setting up, what the app does, and what every setting does. Words in quotes are the app's own.

All three start in the same place. WrapScribe has no Dock icon: it lives in the menu bar, and its menu is where a dictation starts, where a meeting is recorded, and where the Dashboard, Settings and the setup wizard are opened from. The first line is a status line — "WrapScribe — Ready" when it is idle, the elapsed time while it is recording. "Record a Meeting" appears on Pro and Max.

*Mock-up: The WrapScribe menu-bar menu: a status line reading “WrapScribe — Ready”, then Start Dictating, Record a Meeting, Open WrapScribe…, Settings…, Re-run Setup… and Quit WrapScribe.*

## Pages

- [Onboarding](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/onboarding) — The six screens the first launch shows you, and what to pick on each one. Jump to [Activate WrapScribe](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/onboarding#setup-activate), [Grant Permissions](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/onboarding#setup-permissions), [Pick Your Shortcut](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/onboarding#setup-shortcut) or [If something goes wrong](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/onboarding#setup-troubleshooting).
- [Features](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/features) — Everything the app does, from the shortcut you hold to the notes it writes after a call. Jump to [How a dictation works](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/features#flow), [The Dashboard](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/features#dash), [Meetings](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/features#meet) or [Selection assistant](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/features#selection).
- [Settings](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/settings) — Every tab and every control, in the order the app shows them. Jump to [Voice & Cleanup](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/settings#voice-cleanup), [Shortcuts & Input](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/settings#shortcuts-input), [Overlay & Sound](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/settings#overlay-sound) or [What syncs across your Macs](https://wrapscribe.com/docs/settings#sync).

## How to read these pages

Anything in quotation marks is a label WrapScribe itself uses. The same words are on the screen the page names, so you can go and look at the thing being described rather than guess at it.

A heading marked Pro is a feature of the Pro and Max plans; Alpha marks one that is still finding its shape and can change between releases. On Settings, every control also carries its type, its default, and where it lives: Syncs means the setting follows your account to your other Macs, and This Mac means it stays on the Mac you set it on.

Each page has a plain-text twin for anything that reads better without markup — this one is at https://wrapscribe.com/docs.md, and the others at https://wrapscribe.com/docs/onboarding.md, https://wrapscribe.com/docs/features.md and https://wrapscribe.com/docs/settings.md. They carry the same words as the pages themselves.

Also: what changed in each release (https://wrapscribe.com/download#whats-new) is on the download page, and the blog (https://wrapscribe.com/blog/) has the longer stories behind the changes.
